Inn on the Harbour and Telegraph House

A lovely, clean heritage building, with a room that felt almost like a suite. It was spacious, airy, smelled great, and gave us lots of privacy. You can walk to everything. They should add coffee filters to the rooms and a lamp on both sides of the bed. We’ll be back. Thanks to the great staff for getting us in early and making our day.

We booked four rooms for a birthday during the eclipse and couldn’t have asked for more. The owners were fantastic, and the staff were sincere and so friendly. The rooms had wonderful older charm. Just a great stay all around. Thanks for having us.

The blue room we used to stay in a few years ago is still nice and big, and the bathroom is spacious with a fine shower. But the furniture is tired and needs painting, the TV seems about 30 years old and is very small, and the little drawer space was so dusty I had to lay towels inside before putting in my clothes. The grounds and exterior have deteriorated badly. The heritage building needs paint and updates, there are loose stones on the walkway and rotting wood on the steps, and the once lush flower gardens are now full of weeds. The porch was a mess when guests were arriving. Staff, who I have no complaints about, came over and at least swept and wiped away cobwebs. The rattan chairs need refinishing, and the cushions were full of dust when we shook them. I’m told frogs now enjoy the pool at the back. Apparently the Harbour Inn owner bought the building, but it seems he has no interest in preserving it and has done nothing over these past few years. It’s so sad. This was very, very disappointing, and we won’t return until the much needed updates are done.

The location is fabulous, with a beautiful beach and lovely restaurants nearby, all within walking distance. We’d return if the place were cleaned up, but otherwise we won’t be back. The outside hasn’t been maintained, with lots of weeds, a broken bird bath, and a filthy porch. Two staff members came to sweep it and clean the tables so we could use the porch in the evening, and we were very thankful. Our room was very nice apart from two small, dirty drawers for clothes and no closet. The website needs updating because this is not a restaurant, just a place to stay. The only food is continental breakfast: toast, bagels, muffins, yogurt, juice, cereal, and coffee. It was very deceiving. I wish The Telegraph House were still a B&B like it used to be. It’s very sad that the new owners aren’t maintaining this beautiful heritage house.
