Hi-Way Motel

Hi-Way Motel was incredibly kind when the room I’d booked wasn’t available. They found an overflow room for me and my two cats, and it was private and had everything we needed. I slept really well and left early the next morning feeling rested. I’m grateful for how attentive and considerate they were. Definitely recommend!

The bed had blood and pee stains, and there was someone’s hair on the pillow. It felt like the bedding hadn’t been changed. The room was cold, there was only one roll of toilet paper, and it felt like a horrible movie. I lost $306 and wasn’t happy. The TV and lamp didn’t work. Never again!

We booked a room with two queen beds, but the bathroom door only opened about ten inches before hitting the toilet. My son could squeeze through, but neither adult nor my daughter could. You’d have to be a toothpick to use it, and even the smallest tummy would stop you getting in. The room itself was small. I told them I couldn’t stay somewhere without a usable bathroom. They said the only room left had one bed. There were four of us, and our kids are teenagers, so sharing one bed wasn’t an option. I handed back the key and wasn’t offered a refund. The room listing didn’t mention the tiny bathroom, and I can see why there are no pictures of it on Expedia. I’ve since been told I should have explicitly asked for a refund, but I did say I couldn’t stay and handed over the key. She took it and said goodbye. I guess they’re only saying I should’ve asked because of my Expedia review.

A few nights ago, I woke up around 1 a.m. being bitten by bed bugs. I moved to my car across the street, but when I got home, bugs were all over my luggage and clothes. I had to throw everything out and get my car fumigated. A $70-a-night stay cost me $2,000. This is the worst place to stay in Manitoba and needs to be burned down. My lawyer will be in touch.
