Hotel Palace Royal Quebec City

The location is excellent for exploring Old Quebec, which is why I chose this hotel. But the stay didn’t meet what I expect from a four-star property, despite being listed as one. The room felt dated and a little shabby in places, with a small bathroom and basic amenities that seemed lower quality than expected. The door was difficult to open, adding to the inconvenience. One light bulb was out when we arrived, and the sofa-bed blanket was so thin that we had to ask for another to make it comfortable. The staff also didn’t know the laundry hours, which surprised me. These issues were eventually dealt with, but the attention to detail and service still felt below a four-star level.

We had a very clean, cozy place with a balcony on a mini road trip with the kids and friends. The kids loved sitting out there to watch when music was playing. The room was big, the beds were comfortable, and the location was perfect. My only downside is having to pay for parking each day. Given the room rates, I think it should be included. Otherwise, it was a very nice stay and we’d most likely come again.

The room was a good size, with comfortable beds, and it was handy having a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. We also enjoyed the live music in the pool atrium. The Wi-Fi could’ve been better, but we had a good stay. Great location and helpful staff.

The location and parking were fantastic, but the hotel itself was dusty and pretty beat up when we looked closely. Pool water was gross, and we couldn’t find an accessible shower, so it seemed like nobody was showering before using the pool or the small hot tub. Our coffee maker kept leaking from the back. I also saw that the mattresses were gross when my kids pulled off the sheets. We were there during a big hockey tournament, and a lot of the staff and other guests were disrespectful. I think the staff were frustrated, and the atmosphere made us uncomfortable.
