Up The Creek Backpacker's Lodge

I came at the end of April 2026 to get a break from the busy city atmosphere, and I was pleasantly surprised by how the place felt. The staff were friendly and quick to take care of anything I needed. It’s close to the ferry, but still feels tucked away. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a new and fun experience.

Up the Creek Backpacker Lodge felt like a cozy, peaceful home away from home. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly, from the owner to the other guests, and we slept really well. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely return.

I loved the fireplace and how relaxing my stay was. The hostel is cozy and close to the ocean, a park with a waterfall, a great yoga studio, and a cafe. Kelly, the manager, is genuinely kind, and Martin, the owner, is friendly and personable. I didn’t want to leave and will definitely come back. Thanks for such a relaxing stay!

The beach and walking trails are close by, yet Up The Creek is tucked away somewhere peaceful. After a long road trip, it was just the kind of spot where I could properly rest. Martin was a pleasure to talk to and knew loads about the area. I spent four weeks volunteering this summer and really enjoyed it, especially the hammock lounging and walks to the beach in the evenings. The place is so comfortable and lovely, and Martin was fair about the work in exchange for accommodation. For extra projects beyond the usual housekeeping, he also made good use of my strengths. I'd happily recommend staying here, or volunteering.
