Motel Marie-Dan

We were traveling between PEI and Ottawa with our small dog, and this was a handy place to break up the drive. It was comfortable and very clean, with the woods helping keep the highway noise down even though it’s nearby. We had to get going early, so we missed out on the pool and patio, but both looked pleasant.

We’ve stayed at Motel Marie-Dan several times on our way to the cottage, and plan to return. The rates are affordable, the staff are friendly, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Breakfast is included, just a simple one, but it’s a nice extra when you’re heading out early. It’s an ideal stop on a long drive when you mainly need somewhere to rest for the night.

The breakfast was pretty bare bones, just bread and cereal, and the muffin was hard and looked about a week old. It felt like they’d cut corners wherever they could. The person looking after the place was rude and made us feel unwelcome, which is the last thing you want during a break in a trip. When we arrived, the parking lot was covered in black ice and they hadn’t put salt down. My wife nearly slipped and fell.

The rooms were clean and simple, and the person at the front desk was super friendly. I’d bring my own pillow and soap, and you’re better off getting your own breakfast in the morning. I’d stay here again.
