Travelodge by Wyndham Windsor

My boyfriend and I took one look at room 118 and left to stay somewhere else. It was nothing like the pictures, and everything was dirty. There were exposed wires, disgusting grout and shower tiles, and wallpaper coming right off the walls. It looked like a storage room hastily turned into a hotel room. The whole place had a bad vibe. Trust me, spend the few extra dollars and stay somewhere nicer. Don’t book room 118.

The bed and pillows were comfortable, and it was a great stay overall. The location, front desk staff, and facilities would all get five stars from me. A few things held the rating back: the bathroom fans were noisy, the pancake maker was broken, and the orange juice was brownish.

The staff were the best part, friendly and efficient, and helpful even before check-in when I had to change some booking dates by phone. I also admired how the front desk worker kept fighting with the automated pancake machine so my young son could try the conveyor belt pancakes he wanted so badly. I’m terrible with names, sorry. I was worried after reading the recent one-star reviews, but was pleasantly surprised. There wasn’t excess noise, any shady characters, or an apparent hotel-wide smell. The only odor in our room was a brief whiff when we entered, which I suspect came from new carpet. Towels were clean, toiletries replenished daily, and breakfast was fresh and plentiful, with items refilled hourly. Maybe some complaints came from guests arriving close to the 9 am breakfast cutoff. If something isn’t right, I’d suggest asking the staff, since they were so helpful. Our room and the building have been hotel spaces for a long time, but there have been recent updates. There were some cosmetic marks and scratches, a slow tub drain, and a toilet that rocked a little. Still, the room was clean and comfortable, and the upgraded thermostat kept us comfortable during a heat wave. We couldn’t work out the new Roku TV because the room instructions were for the old-style hotel TV. Google still lists a pool, but it appears to be permanently out of service. There’s no view to come for, but it was convenient for the event we were in town to attend.

The young woman at the front desk was kind and polite, and the cleaning ladies were lovely too. Your staff are a real credit to the business. My wife and I hope to come back.
