Great Blue Heron Hotel

We came to enjoy Port Perry on the last stop of our weeklong road trip, and the town was lovely. The motel was a letdown. It’s the only fairly decent pet-friendly hotel in Port Perry, which is why we stayed, but it felt very dated and smelled musty as soon as we walked in. The room took ages to cool down, and the air conditioning wasn’t on when we arrived. For almost $400 a night, there were no meals or pool. We weren’t there for the casino. It’s a shame, since the hotel could make much more of its size and beautiful location.

The casino was surprisingly quiet, which made my first visit a nice one. A staff member patiently explained how everything worked. We also had a great time at the hotel. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and for once I could actually sleep on a hotel pillow since it wasn’t too bulky. The Eatery is a good spot to catch up with friends or teammates over a meal, or just watch a game. The staff were friendly. No complaints.

The buffet was great, and Karen gave AMAZING service. With a players card, it’s $14.99 after spending at least $1 on the card. Members who don’t play pay $19.99.

This was my first time here, and I’m not coming back. The casino odds were garbage, so I threw my players card in the trash by the front door. Getting food took forever even though the place wasn’t busy. The wings weren’t cooked very well. I could only order a single shot drink with my meal, and even with the wings half price, my bill came to $30 for wings, fries, and a drink. Worst experience ever.
