The morning photo I took was just before we left. We’d had a much easier night thanks to the hosts at the Tamworth Hotel. My wife called when we realized we couldn’t make it from Kingston to Petawawa while towing a trailer with a vehicle on it, and needed somewhere for the night. Even though Carol and Kevin were home, they got a room ready and came out through the bad weather to meet us as we drove over. We were rested and ready to continue in the morning. The hotel is also one of the best restored old buildings I’ve stayed in. Carol and Kevin have clearly put a lot of work into bringing back its old charm. I hope they do really well, and that my wife and I get more chances to stay there.

The beds were so comfortable, and there were plenty of pillows in different styles to choose from. We stayed two nights in the blue room, number 6, while our team was there for a classic western film production. The hotel felt remarkably well put together for a building around 200 years old. The manager welcomed us with a big smile, talked with us about the building’s history, and showed us the well-equipped kitchenette. Our mini fridge had pop and water, quiet fireplace music was on the TV, the Wi-Fi password was ready, and the room was at a comfortable temperature. The room was clean and classy, and the bathroom was clean and well equipped with toothpaste, towels, and bathrobes. After filming, my partner and I went for a full photoshoot. Nothing unpleasant got into the background of any of the pictures. We would have enjoyed the wraparound upper deck too if the weather had been better, so we’ll check it out next time we come back on our own. If you’re a photographer, or just fancy a bit of fancy, the Tamworth Hotel is a great place to stay. You can come to Tamworth, Ontario for the hotel experience itself, and leave feeling fulfilled.

The hosts were incredibly gracious and went well beyond what we expected. The Tamworth Hotel is a beautifully maintained piece of history, and a lovely location for film crews or photographers. I’d highly recommend booking a stay.

In the small town of Tamworth, this hotel is a real gem. I’ve never slept in a more comfortable bed.
