Right in the village center, the location is ideal, and the spacious rooms have comfortable beds and pillows. But the outdoor tubs were the biggest letdown. Their policy means the jets don't give the usual massage, with only a very slight circulation. It feels like sitting in still water rather than a bubbling, churning jacuzzi. We expected something different, and everyone we spoke to was disappointed. If good outdoor hot tubs matter to you, look elsewhere. There are a couple of smaller ski-related inconveniences too. You have to put your boots on in your room, since there isn't a place to change into ski boots, and guest rooms don't have hooks or other spots for damp gear to hang and dry. That's odd for a ski resort hotel. With some changes, this could be a really good ski hotel.

My husband and I spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at the Sun Peaks Grand Hotel, and it was such a warm, enjoyable stay. The staff were kind and extremely helpful, and our room was lovely, clean, and comfortable. They even left a lovely Christmas treat for all the guests. I can't believe it's taken me nearly a year to write this, because it feels like we were there just yesterday. We'd absolutely stay again and recommend it to anyone considering Sun Peaks.

The location and staff would make me recommend the Sun Peaks Grand, but I wouldn't expect the 'Quiet Luxury Redefined' promised on the website. Its ski-in/ski-out access really is excellent, with snow within 10 yards of the ski valet. The valet team worked hard to get everyone onto and off the slopes, and were friendly. The two laundry rooms worked as advertised, which we appreciated on a longer ski trip. At the room rates, though, I can't say it was good value. We were on a tour and must have had preferential rates. Our group of 40 arrived late by bus from Kelowna, and reception was great. They welcomed us, unloaded the luggage, and got us and our gear to our rooms quickly. The third floor corridor is extremely long, and our room was about 50 yards from the elevator, though that's not something staff could change. The room was adequate, with two very comfortable queen beds, good coffee and tea, dressing gowns, and a safe. It was quiet and insulated well from other rooms. The central heating and AC was noisier than some systems, though not as bad as most window units. The room felt dated and uninspiring, the lighting was poor with dim flickering bulbs and confusing switches, and there was only one comfortable chair for a room that generally sleeps two. The tea cups were tiny espresso cups, not a decent size for tea. We often returned around 3:30 p.m. as the lifts closed and found the room still hadn't been serviced. We were told rooms could be cleaned as late as 5:30, which is too late. A torn bath mat and a sheet with a hole were also there. The main curtain had come off its rail and the shower drain was partly blocked; those may not have been things the cleaner knew about. These issues were fixed within 24 hours, but they didn't feel luxurious. Breakfast at Mantles was a good buffet, with lots of variety and hot and cold choices. Staff were keen and service was reasonably good. But the juice, coffee, and toaster corner was laid out in a way that caused constant congestion, and the decor was dark and dated. As I mentioned in a separate review, I see Mantles more as a cafe/bar than a dinner restaurant. The food was good and the service acceptable, but the layout and decor let it down. The indoor/outdoor pool area was fun, and the sauna was hot and good. The three hot tubs, each seating about ten people, weren't very hot and had no jets to move the water, which was disappointing. The building overall felt oppressive, dark, and tired. It needs a brighter, more welcoming refresh, though I doubt the owners will spend the money when it looked full and the location can't be beaten.

The resort itself is beautiful, and our room had a gorgeous view and balcony. It was well equipped with a smart TV, espresso machine, full tub, bathrobes, and the other things you'd expect at a hotel resort. The bed was super comfortable. From booking to checkout, the service was exceptional. The reservations staff were marvellous and went out of their way to make our weekend special. Check-in and guest services were incredible too. We had a magical stay and can't wait to return. Thanks for making it feel so special.

It was my first time at Sun Peaks, and I'll be back for an overnight stay. I was there for a wedding but didn't stay overnight this time. The location is beautiful, the staff were outstanding, and the food at Cahilty was really good.
