We had a relaxing, quiet two-night stay, and the beds were very comfortable. The hosts were friendly and had breakfast ready by the time we got up. We had our own bathroom, and there’s a kitchen and a living room with a TV. The rooms were sparkling clean, the nightly price was very reasonable, and the location was excellent: within five minutes of the no 1 highway and 20 minutes from most major centres. We had a great stay and highly recommend it. We’ll definitely return.

The property is in a quiet residential part of Surrey, which may suit guests looking for a peaceful place. But although it presents itself as a hotel or motel, I believe the owners benefit from not having to pay business taxes or utilities. Guests may have limited options if something goes wrong. It looks like a legitimate hotel or motel, but because the land is zoned for single-family residential use, I don’t believe it can be insured as a business. Edit: I’m sure the owners have a business license as a Bed & Breakfast and pay their residential utility bills. But City of Surrey Bylaws limit B&Bs to three rooms and six guests, and I’m certain this place exceeds both limits.

The hosts, Ronald and Patricia, were wonderful, helpful, and very accommodating. We had what we needed, including free Wi-Fi, and there’s spacious parking. The location is quiet, close to HY1 and all amenities. I booked this really cute, clean B&B for three days while doing media work with my team. We held editing sessions there, and it worked perfectly for our work sessions, group discussions, or workshops with a small group of up to 15. Rooms on both floors are clean and spacious, and the shared kitchen is modern and has all the amenities you need. Book this place when you come to Portkells. You won’t regret it.

A nice family runs the place and makes guests feel at home. The beds are comfortable, and the washrooms, living and dining areas, and kitchen are well provided for. There are private front and back yards and comfortable, secure parking. Service and housekeeping are excellent. I watched the facility being built and saw it after it was completed. It’s ideally located among lush greenery and feels fresh, with easy access from the Trans Canada Highway and other roads just before the busy business district in Surrey BC and other Metro Vancouver cities.

I spent almost three weeks here. It’s in a good location and beautifully built. A very nice, caring family makes sure your stay is hassle-free, and you leave with plenty of memories.
