Motel Royal

It was a shame the pub wasn't open, but this was a very good place to stop while traveling in winter. The motel is basic and super clean, with thoughtful little touches like a pod coffee machine. The innkeepers were friendly, and I'd stay here again in summer too.

The lake side view in summer was amazing, and there's a little beach and dock an easy walk away. The room was clean and well looked after. I'd definitely return, it's a beautiful little gem.

After a long day of driving, this was a great place to rest. It's simple but clean, and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. You do hear your neighbours quite a bit, though I'd definitely stay again.

The pub next door, down the hill, was incredible. My stay there with my dog, though, was a real letdown. I booked after the man said the dog room was in a different area of the motel, so I thought it would still be in the main building. Instead it was in a separate, tiny building down the hill, which I couldn't find pictured anywhere. They should make that clear. At night, the big neon sign lit it up like Christmas, the neighbours had all their outside pot lights on, and spotlights on tall poles behind it added to the glare. One half of the room had no blackout blinds, so it was bright enough to read a book. The bed was awful, very hard with no softness or bounce. People mention the view, but I stop to sleep, and nobody seems to mention good beds. There was no hair dryer, and the thin tube shower head just seemed to mist the water, so I didn't bother using it. I was excited to try a new place since I come east several times a year, but I paid $160 for the worst sleep I've ever had. Traveling with a dog takes your stay downhill, literally.
