Holiday Inn Express Toronto - North York by IHG

I had a restful solo stay, with excellent customer service and a spacious, comfortable room and bed. The complementary breakfast was really good, and the price felt fair for what I got. The water never got warm during my stay. Also, when I shifted the bed a little, I found lots of crumbs underneath. The room should have been cleaned properly before another reservation, so the cleaning staff need to move beds while cleaning to make sure it’s actually clean.

We had a large group in town for a funeral and spent a few hours using the eating area while visiting with family. The staff handled it kindly, with gentle reminders to clean up and keep the noise down so other guests wouldn’t be disturbed. The facilities are well managed, and there’s quick highway and airport access depending on where you need to go, although the area isn’t very walkable. The service was what stood out most. My only other suggestion is more storage space in the rooms.

For the GTA, this is a good value, especially with prices so high around the region. The property is nicely renovated, and while the rooms are on the small side, they’re perfectly functional. It was clean throughout and the staff were very helpful. My one complaint is the gym ellipticals. Their tracks are worn and rusting, and the machines really need replacing.

Getting onto the 400 is easy from this location, though you’ll need to drive to get places in Toronto. The rooms were modern, very clean, and laid out well. Staff were courteous and easy to work with. The breakfast was good for a 3 star hotel, with a small buffet of 3 hot foods plus pancakes, bagels, toast, yogurt, cereal, and a few other items. There’s also a small pool and exercise room. We used the pool, which was clean and well kept, with a shower and towels and soap stocked. My only wish is that the room had a bathtub as well as a shower, instead of only a stand in shower. Great experience overall.
