The shower was 5/5. It takes a little while to get hot, but then the water stays hot. We’d stay again for the location near the ferry terminal. The tent was clean and tidy for a glamping setup, and the bed was an actual bed and very comfortable. Self check-in was easy since the email had all the details, and there was good parking. I hesitated after reading reviews once we’d booked, but I’m glad we went. A flush toilet would make it five stars, though I understand the vision and hope they add one.
We left at 5 am to find somewhere else to stay until our ferry. On our first night arriving in BC, we wanted a quiet place to rest, and this wasn't it. Our reservation showed two guests, but the tent had only one shower towel, and the outhouse had no toilet paper. People were loud, swearing and banging the outhouse door through the night, partying until 4 am despite quiet hours starting at 11 pm. No one checked in or asked them to quiet down, and service was nonexistent. We wrote to the owners about the night and got no reply.
The host first agreed to refund us after I raised the problems, but no refund came through, so I had to sort it out with my credit card company. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The listing didn’t make clear that the “glamping” tent was set up in a backyard. The pillows, tent, and bed frames had visible mold, and the sheets didn’t look washed. One of us has asthma, so mold is a serious health risk, and I was sniffling constantly and uncomfortable all night. It was an unsafe and disappointing stay.
The toilets were filthy, including one that was completely covered in urine. I know guests affect how they’re left, but with an extra cleaning fee I expected them to be clean. The shared kitchen was dirty too, with broken glass on the counter, dirty dishes, and no sponges or kitchen towels to clean them ourselves. There was no drinking water. The tent was lovely and the beds cozy, but ours had no light, so bring a flashlight. At this price, we expected more, especially since the website lists more amenities and the cleaning fee suggested a level of cleanliness we didn’t find. None of the listed services were available to us: there was no information about massage, walking tours, or traditional healing, no one serving at the bar despite the open sign, and no games that we could see. It’s frustrating to advertise and charge like a “resort” without providing those things. Guests arrived loudly at midnight and had loud sex in the tent next to us. We had a 4 year old with us, and it was disgusting and inappropriate even without a child. I know that part is beyond the owners’ control, but families should be aware of the crowd the place may attract. We felt completely ripped off. If it were presented transparently as camping and priced more reasonably, this wouldn’t be an issue. Be prepared for the lack of amenities. We contacted the owners about all of this and, unsurprisingly, got no response, so don’t expect customer service.
The Eagle Nest tent was beautiful and the surroundings were lovely, but the stay was still a letdown. The porta-potty was so disgusting that I dehydrated myself to avoid using it. We stayed two nights and didn’t see any other campers. Maybe since we were the only ones there, no one made sure the kitchen was ready. The website mentions a kitchen and suggests bringing food, so I bought steaks for a romantic birthday dinner for my husband. There was no propane, and we had to go out instead. I messaged Tina asking if someone could bring a full tank, but she never replied. There was a coffee machine but no filters, so we had to buy our own. The showers had just one towel, which looked used, hanging damp instead of folded. I liked the tents, but there was nobody around to ask for towels or help with problems. I’d planned this for months and had hoped to book four tents for a getaway with my adult kids and grandkids. I don’t think I’ll do that now. Keep these issues in mind if you’re considering a booking.
