Keefer House

I stayed here with a buddy a few months ago and only thought to write this after seeing an email from them. The place looks great in photos, but the experience felt empty. Communication was distant, service came across as performative, and policies seemed to get more attention than taking care of guests. At luxury prices, I expected warmth and professionalism. Instead it was ambiance without substance. The space is undeniably photogenic, but hospitality seems to come second. Sub Zero service. Don't book unless you really have to.

We felt safe thanks to the security measures, and loved using coded keyless entry for the building, elevator, and apartment. Our two-bedroom at Keefer House was spacious, sparkling clean, and had a huge modern kitchen, all the appliances, and a full-sized washer and dryer. The free coffee beans were a welcoming touch. The hosts were gracious, and email communication was fast and efficient, so we didn't miss a traditional hotel front desk. We chose the apartment because it was within walking distance of Rogers Arena and a better deal than two hotel rooms. Restaurants and pubs are close by, and we enjoyed exploring a part of Vancouver we'd never seen. We'll stay here again when we attend another event at Rogers. The only downside is that an apartment facing the alley doesn't have a nice view, though it was fairly quiet and away from street noise.

The condo was comfortable and had what we needed for one night, and the building was clean and secure, which made safety feel like a priority. Keefer House was excellent about communication and responding quickly. The location gives easy access to downtown and Chinatown, though you're bordering the downtown east side, which may put some people off. We had a great stay!

The apartment and staff were great, and the owner went above and beyond to fix a parking issue quickly and make sure our stay was exceptional. The one-bedroom unit was clean, modern, high quality, and looked just like the photos. Check-in was simple, communication was top-notch, and we loved staying there for our five days. Whoever designed or remodeled the units deserves a special shoutout. I could see myself coming back. The area was the hard part. The drug use on the streets and in the alleys was blatant, shocking, and frightening for my girlfriend. Every time we left the hotel and walked to the car, she'd jokingly bring the kitchen scissors and knife sharpener, whispering “just in case” while scanning the dark corners. I didn't want her to feel that way, and it reminded me of why I moved away from Downtown LA. The neighborhood is outside the hotel's control, but it's worth knowing what to expect. I would stay here again, especially if they opened somewhere a little nicer with free parking. I'd have paid more for a safer experience, but the unit, staff, and owner made the rating for me. A+ recommended, just know the facts.
