I had to contact Airbnb support to ask for a refund and alternative accommodation. There were too many serious problems for me to stay here. The shared kitchen was extremely dirty and unusable. Instead of a proper bed, the listing had two thin mattresses stacked together, which hadn't been mentioned. The apartment smelled terrible because the skylight was leaking into a bucket, and the leak seemed to have been going on for a while. Mold covered the bathroom ceiling and walls, and there was more around the window and on the main room floor. The air felt very poor and unsafe for health, and a strong urine smell made the place even harder to bear. This place should not be listed until these issues are fixed. A very disappointing experience.

The owner had keys for each room and used them carelessly. While I was asleep, she unlocked my door and came into my locked room without knocking or even a whisper. The rooms were cramped, sterile, and falling apart, with stained and graffiti marked walls, broken heating, flickering lights, and a sink detached from the bathroom wall. From arrival, there was an intense smell of cat urine throughout the dilapidated den. I can’t understand how this place is still operating. Book literally anywhere else. If it were the only accommodation in Vancouver, I’d sleep under a bridge instead. Zero out of ten.

The people running the place were nice, and it's in a great location. But we found cockroaches in our room, mostly in the restroom, plus some smaller ones in the shared kitchen. We killed a few. It’s a nice place with nice folks, but the roaches really ruin the vibe.

The room was very clean, and the location made getting around Vancouver easy, with buses and the SkyTrain close by. I stayed for two weeks, and it felt more like an Airbnb-style place. The WiFi was my one issue since it kept being unstable. Still, it worked perfectly for a short Vancouver trip.

The owner upgraded my room at no extra cost, which was a nice touch. I found the old house cozy, and the room was clean, warm, and nice. It was an easy walk to both the BC Cancer Agency at 600 West 10th and Broadway-City Hall Skytrain station, each about five blocks away. I'd happily stay again.
