Holiday Inn Express & Suites - Vernon by IHG

The room was reasonably comfortable, but the shared areas made the stay disappointing. The lobby furniture was filthy, worn, and shabby, and the hallways were dirty with an unpleasant smell. I stayed here years ago, and it’s really gone downhill since then. It’s a shame, because the property used to be much better. I hope management invests in cleaning and upkeep so it can return to its previous standard.

The rooms were nice, and you can cross the parking lot to the competition for a pretty good meal. Check-in was easy, renovations were going on, and the breakfast setup was nice. The pool looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months. There was black, hardened buildup along the edges, and the hot tub was filthy too. It looked like nobody was cleaning either one. I told the front desk, and the woman gave the usual response that maintenance staff look after them. Disgusting is the best way to describe it.

Housekeeping tidied the room while we were out, the sheets were fresh, and the pool was pleasantly warm. We also enjoyed unwinding in the hot tub. We got in 15 minutes early, and breakfast had a nice variety. The room was clean, although my 13-year-old thought it was a little too cold 🤣. Parking was full at night, but we managed to get the last spot. A solid 9/10 for our weekend.

Renovation noise was extremely loud from 8 am to 8 pm, and I hadn’t been told the work was happening when I booked. The bed was very uncomfortable, and its frame made a lot of noise. We ran out of hot water in the shower. When I called the front desk, they said the hotel always runs out when it’s full or sports teams are staying. They clearly didn’t care, and the customer service was extremely disappointing. There wasn’t enough parking either. Skip the frustration and choose another hotel.
