Breakfast was superb, and it arrived at our room by food elevator after a gentle knock. Our privacy was never interrupted, and we could eat whenever we liked. The place was flawless for a private, romantic stay, with discreet, courteous staff. Thanks, David! The price was very reasonable, too. We stayed in the Oriental room, which had lovely decor and a great feel. We peeked into a few other available rooms, and they looked great as well. The furnishings were nice, the bed was great, and there was a jacuzzi for two. A real fireplace was set up and ready, although we didn’t use it. Everything else we expected was there. One note about pricing: the prices listed on the website don’t always match the actual ones. Start an online reservation for your chosen date to see the real price. In our case it was $40 less than the website price.

The Mikado room was lovely, and the B & B was peaceful, quiet, and in a great location. Breakfast came in a basket, expertly packed and still hot, with four options to choose from. I had the fruit crepes, and the truffles were delicious too. I’d have bought a box, but it was very warm when we left, and I worried they’d melt on the way home.

The Celebration Room has lovely lace and large windows, and I’ve enjoyed the jacuzzi tub for relaxing after exploring the city. Humboldt House has been a pleasant stay so far. The service is welcoming and friendly while still giving us enough privacy. Many sights are close enough to walk to, if you’d rather leave the car parked.

We booked the Oriental room for two nights and were disgusted by its condition. The carpet was stained all over and the room smelled mouldy. The large flat-screen TV we’d been promised was only about 12 inches wide. We couldn’t figure out the front door lock, and with no staff there overnight, we worried we’d be locked out. The manager refused to come speak with us about the problems, so we left. They’re now refusing to refund the one night they charged us. We’ve run a B & B for years, and this one is well below quality standards.

A lovely little bed and breakfast, with a fantastic stay. The host was super friendly, the sheets were so soft and everything was very clean. The food was delicious, and having it delivered right to the room was great.
