There were spiders in the room, the bed was uncomfortable, and staff kept coming by despite my Do Not Disturb sign. Someone even woke me while I was sleeping. The worst part was getting locked out before checkout, even though I’d extended the room earlier that day and should still have had access. I called both emergency contact numbers over and over and nobody answered. I waited nearly three hours to get another room key. Being stranded outside with no way in, and getting so little communication or support, was completely unacceptable. I was very disappointed with the lack of respect for guests.

The room surprised me, especially the great kitchen, roomy bathroom, big TV and clean feel. I liked the extra-ply toilet paper and the hooks and hangers by the entrance. Room 114 was quiet until around 5:45 a.m., when trucks started braking and pulling away at the four-way stop; working guests began heading out around 6:00 to 6:30. That’s just an observation, not the Inn’s fault. The bathroom has a proper fan, so you can use it for a bit of background noise. There’s no clock in the room, so I had to use my phone. The bed seemed like a double, and at 5'11" I had to sleep diagonally to keep my toes from hanging over. The mattress was soft and comfortable, though anyone who likes a firm bed might not enjoy it. The outside looks ho-hum, but the location is handy, with a gas station next door, a grocery store across the street, and a liquor store nearby. The Oldtown restaurant and Pub is also close. My food there was okay, though the burgers the guys across from me had looked great. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Parking for big vehicles like buses and semis is limited. The Inn was nearly full, so my company paid $189 plus tax; I don’t know if that’s high or low since I didn’t check other prices. I’d stay again.

I’m here for a few weeks of work in town. The rooms are clean and have everything you need. There’s a restaurant at the hotel, plus a gas station and liquor store, and the grocery store is across the street.

It was quiet during my weeknight stay, and I ate at the attached restaurant both nights. The food was tasty. My room had been nicely redone, with new flooring, paint, lighting, kitchen and appliances, bed frames and mattresses, dresser, night table, TV and AC. The bathroom was new too, though the tub was original, and the ceiling had been retextured. There was a new door with a secure lock plate. The coffee maker was the drip kind, with a coffee packet. Hot water for the shower was super hot and hard to regulate, to be honest. Breakfast was included as grab-and-go from the Husky: an egg salad or tuna sandwich, plus yogurt or a packaged muffin. I passed on those and went elsewhere for a more breakfast-like meal. I’d stay again.

The attached restaurant serves very good food at reasonable prices, and the rooms turned out to be renovated, clean and warm. We stayed three nights because it was the only place in town where we could get four rooms, and I was pleasantly surprised by their condition. After working all day in -30C weather, two of my guys said they spent 20 minutes in their showers warming up. They must have an on-demand hot water system or a large boiler. We’d stay there again if we come back to work in Wabasca.
