Westlock Inn and Conference Centre

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, but the food from room service was disappointing. The gravy arrived burnt and cold. I mentioned it the next morning, and at checkout they just said sorry and have a nice day.

The staff were friendly, the rooms clean, and the internet great. Still, I couldn’t find an outlet beside either side of the bed for my phone, which management should address. The 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner was awful, so it’d be nice to have another option.

We were in town for a funeral and stayed in lovely facilities with nice rooms and comfortable beds. Supper in the Cafe was tasty, and our servers were attentive. Breakfast was okay. The seniors with me enjoyed their travelers breakfasts, but my breakfast burrito was mediocre and seemed like it had been microwaved. We had to ask three times for a third set of cutlery, even though it wasn’t busy. The funeral service was later held in one of the banquet rooms. The food spread had a great variety of tasty sandwiches and generous fruit, vegetable, and cheese platters. The oatmeal raisin cookies on the dessert tray were exemplary, and the banquet staff did an exceptional job clearing tables and keeping fresh plates available. I’ll recommend the place.

The restaurant food was mediocre at best, especially for the exorbitant price charged for plain items. When I wanted to take home what I couldn’t finish, they just handed me a takeout box to pack it myself at the table, which felt awkward. They hadn’t provided containers for the gravy and au jus either, until someone spoke up and asked for them. Maybe I’m old-fashioned, but for a sandwich and drink costing around $25 before tax and tip, I’d expect better food and more service. I’ve decided I’ll just eat at home from now on.
