Listel Whistler, a Coast Hotel

I stayed over New Year’s, so I paid a premium, which may color my view. This is a solid hotel that absolutely earns four stars, and I’d stay again. It’s right in Whistler Village, handy for restaurants and ski lifts, and the clean, comfortable rooms and common areas were welcome after a day on the mountain. The ski storage was a nice bonus too. It feels dated and isn’t really a resort-style property, so five stars would be asking too much. A remodel would take it to the next level.

We had a really enjoyable six-night stay. The rooms were a little small and dated, but clean and comfortable, and the location was great. Staff were great too, with hot chocolate and tea always available in the lobby. If your family wants a budget-friendly, good hotel, don’t think twice about choosing this one. It’s not the place for anyone looking for something fancy or modern, but the other qualities make it a great family option.

The location is unbeatable, right in the center of Whistler Village, and they have their own parking garage, where they let us keep the car until 2pm. I’d recommend this hotel to skiers. It’s only a three-star place, but the service was pretty good: we arrived at 11am Thursday, well before the 4pm check-in, and they let us in early. On Sunday they also gave us an extra hour to check out, until noon. There’s ski storage, plus coffee and hot water in the lobby. The room was clean, with a small fridge and a safe, though there was no microwave.

The team made me feel welcome, and having a hot tub and sauna was a real plus. It’s only a couple of minutes on foot to the gondolas. The beds felt softer than I’m used to, but otherwise I had a fantastic stay.
