The staff were kind and accommodating, the place was impressively clean, and the sleeping area stayed quiet even with lots of people sharing it. I’ve stayed in hostels before and was keen to try this one in Whistler, where everything is so pricey. I’d seen comments that the vibe felt off, but I’m in my 20s and usually get along with anyone, so I thought it would be fine. I didn’t expect so many guests to be living there long-term. It made the place feel like someone else’s shared apartment, and I often felt I was intruding on established friend groups in the common areas. I’m not sure I’d stay again. It just didn’t feel like a social space for travelers.

There’s a huge kitchen, spacious parking, fast wifi, and plenty of patio space. The loft-like common areas have semi-private spots where you can hang out on your own, probably the place’s coolest quirk. Beds were comfy, with individual lights and small lockable storage boxes. The dorms are a 24/7 quiet zone, and my dorm window stayed closed all the time, so it was completely silent at night. That made alarms tricky for me: I don’t wake up on the first ring, but snooze it a few times and someone will tell you to shut up. Women’s facilities had 3 bathroom stalls and 2 showers, clean but possibly a short wait at busy times. There are lots of stairs, and luggage lockers are a trip from the beds, where bags aren’t allowed to save space, so it’s smart to keep clothes and toiletries in a separate bag nearby. Upper bunks are much roomier than lower ones. The front desk staff were very cool and laid-back. Most guests work in town or at the hostel and naturally form their own groups, so it’s not the best place to meet travelers. It definitely lives up to the name of being a lodge.

The shared accommodation was comfy, and the price was good. Friendly staff, too. Having fridge and cooking space available made meal prep easier.

The rooms were dirty and clearly hadn’t been cleaned before we arrived. The motel wouldn’t even provide basic necessities like potable drinking water. When I complained, Courtney, who says she’s the assistant manager, was rude and dismissive. She told us “it is what it is” and that nothing would change. Absolutely terrible experience.

The staff were really friendly and helpful with recommendations, and the location is decent: within walking distance of the Creekside Gondola and a short bus ride from the main Whistler Village. It has cabin charm and was fine for a quiet night, but not much of a social place to meet people, since most guests seemed to be workers living there. I also really disliked that none of the rooms have doors. I book female-only rooms for safety, but if anyone staying at the hostel can access your room, that defeats the purpose.
