Airport Chalet

The lounge had a cozy, interesting feel in the evening, especially with the fireplace on, and the food was quite good. The location is handy for the airport but the distance from downtown has its downside. The stay was decent for the price. The bench seats used to be far past their best, though they’ve since been redone nicely. The motel rooms still badly need new mattresses. Feeling the springs poke through is unacceptable.

There’s plenty of room for trailers, and 18-wheelers park here too. The lot is right by the highway, with lots of people keeping an eye on it, so I wasn’t too worried about theft. The receptionist was friendly. My main issue was the heat: the room stayed like a sauna all night, even after I changed the thermostat. There weren’t any coffee filters in the room either.

There’s truck parking, plus a small restaurant and bar. I didn’t stay at the hotel. The bar service was great, and Ryan was a good bartender. The food was average and the menu pretty basic.

I’d sleep outside before staying here again. The staff talk down to customers and question why they’re staying, what they’re doing with sugar packets (using them for coffee, obviously), and insist that spare keys be returned right away. At night the building gets locked, so if you lock yourself out, you’re stuck. They apparently limit you to four coffees per night, too. Calling the front desk felt like disturbing a friend at 5 a.m.; they sounded annoyed, though they had to answer.
