Caribou RV Park

Our site had a cute little fire pit, and we could buy firewood near the office. The spot was close to the road, so there was a bit of noise, but nothing that would stop us from staying again. The office was already closed when we arrived, so I didn’t interact with staff. The amenities were great, with a restaurant on site and another within walking distance. We weren’t there on a weekend, but they have live music and entertainment then.

We biked into town for lunch, shopping, and the museum, and the location made that easy. Caribou RV Park turned out to be a charming place, even though at first the sites looked close together and a bit short on trees. The hosts were so friendly and really tried to meet our needs. There are no generators allowed, which kept things quiet. We enjoyed two dinners at the restaurant, and both nights we watched the Stanley Cip finals with a friendly, truly international crowd. The food and drinking water were delicious. The showers are private rooms with good pressure and plenty of hot water, and the laundry room lets you run several loads at once. Internet was patchy at our site but worked great by the office. A really positive stop and one of the top ten parts of our Alaska trip. We’d highly recommend it.

The dry site was lovely among the trees, and the washrooms felt like having your own bathroom. There were enough shower rooms that we never had to wait, and the coin laundry was reasonably priced. After the long drive up to Tuktoyuktuk, we were glad to find such welcoming people and useful amenities where we could clean up and rest before moving on. Sophie patiently answered our questions and made us feel at home. Live music over the weekend was a nice extra, as was the excellent food. Steve’s wood-fired pizza was amazing, and Steve and Sandra are real food experts. You can also take Sandra’s preserves home to share. A lovely stay.

Our 43-foot fifth wheel fit easily, with room to park my truck parallel in front of it. The sites are big enough for any rig. Staff were super friendly, the food truck was amazing, and there was live music for a couple of hours in the evening. This is a delightful stop on the ALCAN, whether you’re heading north or south. It’ll be a regular stop for us both ways. Thanks for such a wonderful stay!
