Stratford Motel

The room was dated, but fairly clean and about a 3.5 for what it was. It was one of the cheapest options downtown by far, with hot water for a shower or bath. We got the ground floor room we asked for, and the staff were friendly and flexible when we weren't quite ready to check out. They even found the shoes I'd left behind and put them aside with my name and stay date on them. The downside was smoke or weed from a neighboring guest often coming under the door.

It's basic shelter with a bed and shower. The furnishings are old, and although things seemed clean enough, the smell is awful. I stopped here two years ago and the rooms stank then too. If it were the only room left in town, maybe I'd stay again, but I'm not sure.

The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was old but did the job, and the water got hot quickly. At check-in, the person there was friendly, courteous, and helpful. I was on the first floor and could hear every step from upstairs. The place really isn't well soundproofed, though there was no outside noise. The room itself was comfortable, but the age of the building means there aren't many outlets for charging things.

We stayed here at both ends of our Yukon canoe trip. The rooms were large and clean, and the staff were lovely and friendly. Our first room had two queen beds, so there was plenty of space to sort our gear. It had a microwave, coffee maker, and air conditioning, which was welcome because it was roasting during our summer visit. There's a shower over the bath and an ensuite. The decor is dated, but the bedding and towels were clean. It's central for a short walk to the riverside paths and downtown, or a walk out to the bigger retail area. In 2024, a ride between the motel and airport cost about $20-25.
