Good food, good people, and a great bar. The hospitality is gr8, and weekends have a lively vibe.

I rarely came away disappointed with the restaurant. I think I tried nearly everything on the menu. The rooms do get a little chilly at night.

The chalet had plenty of space, a comfortable bed, a working fridge and TV, plus a shower with hot water and good pressure. The mosquito net didn’t cover the entire bed, though. I was there for about a week and a half while doing consultancy work around Kolwezi. The restaurant offered a great buffet breakfast and a varied menu for lunch and dinner. Service could be a little slow on busy days. Staff were friendly and professional, and spoke very good English when my broken French wasn’t enough. There can be loud music late into the night on weekends when the lodge hosts functions, so it may get noisy. Otherwise, it was a great place to stay.

The cats are the reason I gave this place two stars. Breakfast was also very good, with a very good chef, though there was very little fruit or vegetables. The rest of the food was dreadful. We stayed for over a month, and ordering the same dish didn’t mean getting the same thing. They seemed to decide what you’d get. Meals were often badly cooked, overdone, burnt or too salty, and the portions varied from day to day. The old buffet was decent, but they no longer offer it. Food is very expensive, too. Staff were extremely rude and entitled, apart from the breakfast staff, who were good. A few times, staff came into our room early in the morning to collect dirty clothes while we were still in bed. There are no laundry facilities for long stays, and they want payment for each item of clothing, at prices like in the US. The swimming pool is gone as well, turned into a fountain.
