Chalet Chapfwald Amden

The chalet was clean, and we had everything we needed, though a microwave would have been handy so the boys could make their own dinner later. We had a wonderful family reunion and enjoyed several days of perfect hiking weather. The location was fantastic, with the Chapf viewpoint only a 3-minute walk away and stunning sunrises and sunsets. Communication with the tourist office and getting the keys both went smoothly. We highly recommend it and would love to return if we get the chance.

We were two families, nine people in all, and found everything we needed for a great holiday, including a fully equipped kitchen, ping-pong table, and dartboard. There are lovely fir trees in front of the house, and it’s only a few minutes to the Chrapf viewpoint, with its beautiful view over Lake Walen. A great spot for a family break.

With a double bedroom and en-suite bathroom/shower on each floor, plus a third bedroom for five more people, the chalet’s layout works well for a large family or two smaller families spending a few days together. The bathrooms have been renovated recently, while the other rooms have a rustic feel. Families will appreciate the board games, DVD selection, table tennis, and darts in the basement. There are some drawbacks. The kitchen is quite small, and the dishwasher feels undersized for a house this big. The coffee machine creates a lot of waste and isn’t very user-friendly, and there are more practical options. Some things are showing their age, the attention to detail could be better, and there’s room to improve the tidiness and cleanliness. It doesn’t quite merit an “excellent” rating yet.
