Hotel Besso

The manager went out of his way to help us with directions, and the scenery in Zinal is fantastic. As Americans, we appreciated having our own bathroom. Le Besso was just as clean as you'd expect in Switzerland, where cleanliness standards are very high.

The breakfast was very nice, and the location is great, close to the cable car up to the slopes.

The food at the ground floor restaurant exceeded our expectations and was fairly priced. We stayed in the loft and a double room at Le Besso during our Haute Route trip. The location is central, close to the grocery store, bakery, and other places. It's the oldest hotel in Zinal and has a lot of charm. There are some drawbacks, with no lift and cramped bathrooms, but we really enjoyed our stay. The double room had a nice roof terrace, and the loft had plenty of indoor space. There's also a restaurant terrace.

Our dog was very welcome and enjoyed the stay as much as we did. This is a lovely little family run hotel. We stayed one night, and even though the other rooms were occupied by ski clubs, it was still calm. The rooms are simply furnished but authentic, very clean, and cozy, and the bed was really comfortable. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was good and very high quality, though perhaps a little overpriced, especially the vegetarian risotto. Service was good too. Breakfast came with the room and was standard with a few extras, prepared with lots of care. They even offered extra brioche and croissants.
