For a family of five, this was exceptional value in such an expensive country. Finding connecting rooms for more than four people can be tough in places like Zermatt of Verbier unless you rent an entire chateaux. The furnishings felt nice and premium for ski lodging, though not luxury, and there are on-site ski lockers with dryers. The resort is relatively ski in ski out, depending on the building. A cat track, or mini ski slope, leads to the Zinal Sorebois gondola. The skiing in Zinal and Grimentz was first rate and mostly empty. We had a great stay at this hotel. A little French is useful in the area, since a few people may not know English, though most know basic English. Everyone we met at SwissPeaks spoke near flawless fluent English. The hotel recommended contacting Michel at Taxi Anniviers Sarl in Vissoie for transport to Zinal. His price for this route was competitive, and he understood enough English to coordinate. He was a safe, professional driver. We expected a nine seat van, but his taxi was a roomy minibus with 20+ seats, large windows, and a table area in the back. One useful arrival tip for SwissPeak staff to pass on: if you're staying in one of the lower buildings, ask the driver to drop you on the road behind the resort so you can take your luggage through the parking garage elevators to your room.

The location is really good, close to the lift, right beside the piste, and near the supermarket. The resort also has a bunny slope with a magic carpet, a great kids' room, good sound insulation, and clean, tidy apartments. Kitchen utensils were well stocked, even sharp knives, the showers had nice hot water, and service was good. A few things could be better. The apartments felt as small as they could make them, parking was steeply priced, and most of the games room didn't work. The doors splintered badly enough that I got one under my nail and my wife got pricked in the thigh. The beds were loud, with a gap between the mattresses that kept getting bigger, which wasn't ideal for bringing our toddler into bed. With the amount of snow and open runs, getting around wasn't so convenient: we couldn't ski back on the valley run or ski to Grimentz.

We found plenty for the kids to enjoy, especially the play areas, and the peaceful setting made it easy to relax. There's a supermarket and sports shop close by, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Our apartment was modern, spotless, and had everything we needed. The location among mountains, forests, and streams is stunning, with scenic drives to Montreux, Lavaux, and Lac de Moiry for memorable day trips. A lovely base for exploring Switzerland.

We had a great stay each time, first on a holiday with them in Vercorin and then on ski trips here for three years in a row. The apartments are great, and friendly help is there when needed. I'd definitely recommend staying here.

The staff were really helpful and offered us a couple of bottles when our check-in was delayed. You can also rent fondue and raclette equipment. This is meant to be a ski-in hotel, but the piste was closed because of a lack of snow. It wasn't a big deal to walk to the cable car.
