Restaurant Hotel Traube Appenzell

We had dinner on our first night, and it turned out to be the best meal of our stay. The owners were wonderful and the service was incredible. We stayed three nights and loved being in Appenzell. Breakfast was excellent too, and the beds felt really comfortable to us. We had a great stay.

I ordered the pork shoulder and it was fantastic. The service was prompt, and getting by in English was no problem. It had a warm, welcoming feel. A-1 experience.

We stayed four nights and found the beds and rooms clean and comfortable, although on the small side. From our top-floor room, we had a lovely view over the courtyard. The breakfast was good, with bread, meat and cheese, yogurt, fruit, boiled eggs, and cereal. There's a little table in the room, but no coffee maker or refrigerator. You can't beat the location in the middle of this lovely town, and the train station is about a five-minute walk away. It's easy to stroll around the city. There's no elevator, so luggage has to go up and down the stairs, and I'm not sure where you'd park a car. There was a fan but no air conditioning. The weather was great for us, so we left the windows open at night. The bell tower chimes through the night, then rings at 6:30 AM as if waking the whole city. That's part of the charm of staying here.

The staff were really welcoming and helpful, and the beds were very comfortable. Each room has its own layout and looks inviting. We stayed one night with breakfast, which had a good choice of local cheeses, eggs, yogurt, cereal, and homemade marmalade. Highly recommended 👍🏼 😀
