Home Hotel Arosa

After a full day out, the cosy room had everything I needed for a good night's recharge, and the Arosa card came with the room. The service team is quite lean, but Gyopi at breakfast brought great food and service. We loved the breakfast choices, especially the nice Cappuccino from a real espresso machine, much better than the automatic coffee machines you usually find at hotel buffets. We had dinner at the restaurant once and were pleasantly surprised by the delicious chicken tikka masala so deep in the Swiss mountains. The price-to-quality ratio is hard to beat. I'd recommend it to anyone visiting Arosa.

The rooms were clean and roomy, and the hotel is very close to the ski lifts, which makes it a good base for a ski holiday. Prices are on the high side. Given what the accommodation costs, I would have expected basics like salt, dishwasher tablets, and coffee capsules to be provided.

The hotel is attached to a furniture store, which was a surprise. I stayed five nights during the quiet shoulder season and was upgraded to the Lifestyle Antique Suite. It was clean, spacious, and practical, with a kitchen including an oven, dishwasher, electric stove, and refrigerator, plus a balcony facing the mountains at sunrise. Celie at reception was especially kind and answered all my questions each day. Charlie's, the hotel restaurant, was open and the food was delicious, though many Arosa attractions and restaurants close temporarily in May. The trails were pleasantly uncrowded for hiking.

We'd had our eye on this store during our time in Arosa and hoped to buy some things for our home. The selection was exactly our kind of thing, which makes the experience all the more disappointing. Both men who approached us treated my partner and me very differently, repeatedly ignoring one of us as though they weren't there. It was rude and disrespectful, and both men did the same thing. After that, we decided not to buy anything. The hotel itself isn't what I'm reviewing here, this is only about the home store. They could learn from some of the other shops in Arosa.
