Hotel Märthof Basel

The rooftop terrace was a lovely spot for evening drinks, with an amazing view over Old Town. Downstairs, Bohemia bar and restaurant was popular with guests at breakfast and dinner. I also loved Boulevard terrace, where you could sit over coffee or drinks for ages and watch life go by at Marktplatz. Tram connections right outside were a big help, and the station was only 7/8 minutes away. The service in every department was impeccable, and reception were always very helpful. We were so glad we booked this beautiful hotel. It exceeded what we expected. The location is hard to beat, right beside the famous Marktplatz in the heart of Old Town. Our room was very spacious by Swiss standards. Worth staying here.

We were only here for a night, but it was delightful. The staff were kind and helpful, both on the phone and in person. Our room was beautiful, with an awesome view. Having the parking garage practically next door was handy, and we loved being so close to the beautiful “old town Basel.”

Hotel Märthof gave me a really good stay, and I highly recommend it. The location was very good, and the rooms stayed clean and fresh-smelling. The hallway was always clean and smelled nice, too. The hotel staff were the best, so friendly and helpful. Thank you, Hotel Märthof!

The room itself was a good size and had modern furnishings. It was a signature room above the main entrance, though the windows let in the tram noise all night, which made sleeping difficult. Worse, the room lights kept turning on by themselves every 10-20 minutes when the sensors activated. I was in Basel for work and stayed one night. I wouldn’t have stayed longer. Room service food was good, but I paid for truffle fries and got regular ones. At checkout, no one asked how the night went. I mentioned the faulty light sensors to the young woman so they could check them for the next guest, but she didn’t seem to care. Leaving the hotel also meant carrying my luggage down 10 - 12 stairs with no help. A very bad experience. I wouldn’t recommend it.
