SET Hotel.Residence by Teufelhof Basel

We had connecting rooms, and one had a cooktop, though we didn't use it. The rooms were clean, the air-con worked well for my parents, who are sensitive to heat, and we liked having the toilet separate from the shower. The hotel is also a short walk from the old town, and the staff were super friendly and helpful. Restaurant Atelier, across the road and part of the same group, Der Teufelhof Hotel, was another highlight. We ate dinner there both nights and had a late, light lunch too. The local veal rib chop was tender and juicy, and the sides were delicious rather than ordinary steamed or sautéed vegetables or frites. The summer salad was refreshing, a nice break from all the cheese fondue and rösti. Breakfast was the best we had in Switzerland. It was semi-buffet style, with eggs cooked to order and a choice of bacon or ham. The scrambled eggs were so creamy. Tea came in iron pots, other hot drinks were served by the bar, and there were full-size croissants and different bread rolls. I'd highly recommend the hotel and would definitely return to Basel.

I appreciated the location even more in hindsight. It's near the action, but not right in the middle of it, and transport options are good. My room was clean, minimalist and stylish, with a lovely view over the courtyard garden, birdsong, and aircon, which was essential when I was there. There was also a kitchenette with paid and free options, including coffee pods. Reception and the cafe area were good too. I was very happy here and would gladly stay again.

The apartment has plenty of space to relax, and having a washing machine was a great inclusion. Such a gem, with a perfect location for exploring Basel.

The SET had spacious rooms with a kitchen, a walk-in shower and a big bed. We had breakfast at the main hotel across the street, and it was very good. The staff were kind, and the hotel is right by the city center, with lots of restaurants and shops nearby. We had an amazing stay.
