The room and food were both very basic. I arrived just before reception was due to close, and the clerk didn’t tell me the door was about to be locked, so after going out to find a drink I didn’t know how to get back in. At the time, the hotel was considered “cheap.” By Swiss standards perhaps, but I paid almost as much as I have for a five-star hotel in Canada. Colleagues staying elsewhere around the city made me think this may be pretty typical for Bern hotels.
