Harry's Home Bern Ostermundigen

Our connecting apartment had two bedrooms and plenty of space, with comfortable beds and two different bathrooms, one with a tub and one with a walk-in shower. There were lots of large, soft towels, but only all-in-one soap, so bring other toiletries if you need them. The quilts felt small for taller or larger guests. The room stayed warm and stuffy even with the air conditioning turned all the way down, which made sleeping uncomfortable. The location is handy, right beside the train station, and Bus 10 goes directly into the city center. Underground parking is plentiful at 25 CHF per night. Reception was friendly and helped us quickly arrange the free public transport pass through their partner company. Housekeeping seemed rushed. We found used contact lenses in the bathroom and a visible layer of dust on the sofa. The laundry room was clean and maintained, but the system was confusing: washing and drying cost 2 CHF each, then you need another 1 CHF coin after the wash just to unlock the door. That seems to leave the next person with a free wash. There’s no detergent provided either, so bring your own if you plan to do laundry.

We were unsure about booking because of some negative reviews, but our stay was fantastic. The staff were thoughtful and made room for our group of five by putting our three rooms next to each other. They even let us use the dining area and borrow dishes for our own dinner, although it was outside breakfast hours. The rooms were spacious, modern, and very clean. Parking was convenient, and the price felt especially good for Switzerland. Staff went out of their way to make us comfortable, so we’d happily recommend this hotel.

We were able to cook or heat food comfortably thanks to the kitchenette in our spacious room. The train station is close by, so the location is really convenient.

We had a great time in Bern at Harry’s home. The staff were so lovely, and the price was affordable. Everything was perfect and we’d definitely recommend it. I’d only ask for a bit better service during the stay.
