Hotel Waldrand

The staff made us feel welcome, and the food was tasty. We especially appreciated being able to order sandwiches and snacks for the next day's hike. Our stay felt close to nature. It was cold at night in October, but the hot water bottles for the beds and extra blankets kept us warm enough. We found a lovely hike in the book at reception, then took the local post bus, which runs on the steepest public transport route!

We were glad we stayed here while hiking the Via Alpina. The food and atmosphere were spectacular, and the people working at the hotel were kind and helpful. They could accommodate my gluten allergy, too. The building is old and charming, but the noise didn't bother us. Our room was perfectly clean, and the shared bathroom and showers worked fine.

There are just two showers for all the rooms and only two bathrooms per floor. We also weren't allowed to sit at the outdoor tables with our own food, even though every table was empty, and they refused to give us a single plate. The owners seemed very greedy. The one good thing was the propolis at breakfast.

The service and food were great, and the mountain views were wonderful. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, right in the middle of the mountains.
