Hotel Jardin

A lovely central spot, with parking and a quiet, clean, comfortable room. The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a nice stay and I’d highly recommend it.

The main issue is that they found something I’d left behind and didn’t even bother to let me know. I forgot an electric toothbrush, and could easily have picked it up the same day if the hotel had contacted me. When I asked them to send it, they first quoted one amount to “compensate the effort by the hotel staff.” After I shared my card details to confirm, the price nearly doubled. It seemed they didn’t want to do it and were making excuses. I don’t appreciate people not sticking to what they said. They eventually threw it away, saying they assumed nobody would want it, and added lots of smileys in the email. I’d paid over 130€ for it some years ago, and it still worked. Maybe that’s a joke to the owner, but people may value things they leave in a hotel room. I guess everyone in Switzerland is rich enough to throw things away without a second thought. Edit 1: It wasn’t held together with adhesive. I had put an adhesive on it as a reminder of something, and it clearly wasn’t holding anything together, so that claim is an outright lie. The first email was sent on 03-10, and the hotel already knew the delivery destination was Portugal, as shown in the attached photo, so that’s also untrue. Whether it was old or expensive, I asked them to send it, got one price, then a higher one a few weeks later. I have every right to dislike that customer service and tell others about it. If the hotel considers expecting good service a kind of harassment, that speaks for itself.

I worked for Marriott for over 15 years, so I suppose I’m a bit of a hotel snob, though I doubt I really am. For the price, hotel jardin has thought of nearly everything, which is astonishing. I even booked the economy room, and it’s simply charming. Brava!

The staff were friendly and very helpful, and both the rooms and restaurant were nicely appointed. We stayed three nights in May 2025 in a quiet neighborhood with good public transit to Old Town Bern and the train station. The #9 tram runs every six minutes and stops just around the corner. We loved this hotel and would stay here again when we return to Bern.
