I stayed four nights and took the train each day to ski at St Moritz and go to the Snow Polo event. The station is an easy two-minute walk away. There are plenty of good points here, and a few are great: the service was really good, the hotel was clean, and the bathrooms were spotless. Everyone shares the bathrooms and showers across about 22 rooms, but there are facilities on both the second and third floors, and the doors lock, so privacy wasn't a problem. The showers were very good. Breakfast was decent, mostly healthy and fairly fresh, and those kiwis were delicious. I had dinner twice, and both meals were full of flavor. The difficult part is the cost. The hotel, location, and dinners aren't expensive, but the prices really are ridiculously high. I ski in Switzerland for 10 to 15 days each year, so I'm used to the costs. One tasty pasta dish with cheese sauce, good pasta, and fresh bread, with no meat, was over $45 US, and that was the smaller portion. With a cold beer, my bill was almost $60 for pasta and a beer. The room rate was expensive too, especially since I was there during the Snow Polo weekend in St Moritz. It's a good, nearly great place, but I can't justify what they charge, especially for dinner. Maybe the nice owners have kids at Cambridge University or Harvard University and need the money for “things,” who knows. Would I return? Absolutely, if they cut prices by at least 25 percent.

The hot chocolate and coffee were just right, and after a long walk the welcome felt lovely. The food was fabulous too. Thank you from two Aussies.

A lovely spot with tasty food, clean and nice facilities, and good value for a clean guesthouse. The staff were nice, too. I'd recommend it.

We stopped hoping to get coffee and croissants before our hike, but at 10:30 on a sunny Saturday the kitchen wasn't open. They said they only had coffee and cakes. When we asked whether we'd got the kitchen hours wrong, the service was really rude. I'm Swiss, and it's embarrassing to encounter service this bad in Switzerland. I won't return and wouldn't recommend the place.

Everything we ordered, from the entrées through the main courses to dessert, was delicious. The food and service were excellent, and the setting is beautiful. It gets very crowded during holidays, so making a reservation saves you the trouble of looking for a table. A must-do if you're in the area.
