I pulled over here late one night after getting stuck in a blizzard, and it turned into an unexpected delight. The staff were warm and friendly, and my room couldn’t have been cleaner. After that harrowing drive, the homemade pasta with meat ragu was exactly what I needed.

What a nice surprise. Along with the regular menu, I tried the delicious risotto from the weekly special, made with fresh ingredients. The menu looks interesting, with a southern Italian twist, and I’d like to try some other dishes.

Mercure Chur City West is near plenty of things to do. For local culture, there’s the historic Old Town, the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption, Bündner Kunstmuseum, and Rätisches Museum. You can also visit Fontanapark, Welschdörfli, or Weinbaumuseum Torculum. Outdoors, there are hiking trails with Alpine views and marked paths for all levels in Parc Ela. For other ways to fill the time, there’s Bowling Rock 'n' Bowl, shopping and dining in Chur, and castles and ruins such as Burg Ober-Ruchenberg and Strassberg Castle.

We were four friends and had no trouble finding the place. The rooms were clean, with fresh towels. The restaurant is right across from them, and the Skipass is maybe a five minute walk away. The food was nice, there was a good choice of wines, and for what we paid, the value was amazing.
