The meal portions were too much for four of us, though everything we tried was delicious: beer, local rice soup, beef steak, grilled local pork, and fondue. The restaurant is tucked away in a very old, lovely wooden house. We found it thanks to the kind guy at Glacier Canyon. I also owe them an apology, as I touched their stove without asking first.

We stopped at this little restaurant between Pfingstegg and Grindelwald for ice cream on its pretty, peaceful terrasse. Goats and forest surround it, with a splendid mountain view. Just remember to bring cash, as they don't accept credit cards.

We went for bratwurst and hash browns after a day of hiking, and they really hit the spot. There are plenty of food choices, and the beer was cold. The outdoor patio has an incredible view over the valley, and when we visited in the late afternoon it was quiet. You can reach the place by a winding road or a somewhat steeper trail, around a 30-45 minute walk from the main road. I don't think it's very high up, and you can probably take a bus or drive if you'd rather.

I stopped here for a good plate of schnitzel while waiting for the rain to ease during my hike. It's a quaint, traditional Swiss restaurant, and I liked it much more than the one at the top of the cable car.

A charming old traditional building with a lovely view across the valley. We ducked in for drinks while it was raining, and it was a great place to sit until the rain passed.
