Mercure Plaza Biel

The room was nice and had everything I needed, but I won't be coming back because of the check-out experience. The receptionist looked visibly angry as guests moved in and out with their luggage and the door kept opening and closing. That was happening during check-out hours, so I really don't know what he expected. As a first-time guest, seeing staff act irritated with customers felt uncomfortable and unprofessional. The good facilities couldn't make up for it.

The breakfast was a highlight, with local cheeses, freshly baked brioche and croissants, fresh orange juice, and plenty of tea to choose from. The service team gave us a warm welcome, and the front office staff shared personal suggestions for things to see and do around Biel. We took a boat ride and had a great walk to Saint Peter island, and visited the Omega and Swatch museums and the Camille Bloch chocolate factory, where we tried Ragusa. The location was excellent, and our room and bed were very comfortable and perfectly clean. There was even a coffee machine with pods in the room. Thank you for a lovely stay!

We could hear conversations and activity from the room next door quite clearly, including some intimate moments. It made it hard for us to rest. We know guests will sometimes make noise, but better sound insulation would make a real difference for everyone. The hotel itself was very nice, and we appreciated the comfortable room and the quality of the stay apart from that.

Biel is a lovely little city, and this is probably the best business hotel in town. The breakfast was nice, and there's a sauna. Parking is available on site, though the spaces are the usual small European size. Bike parking is secure. We did hear some street noise, so I'd go for one of the bigger rooms. The staff were very helpful, and Guillaume even helped me with a bicycle problem, although that wasn't his job. Try the Greek food downtown, it was delicious.
