Hotel Campione

The room was comfortable and had all the essentials, and a big thank you to housekeeping for refreshing it each day and neatly folding the clothes we'd left on the bed. The breakfast was less satisfying: just cold cuts and some bread, with the same choices on both mornings. Some hot options like fried eggs, or a different menu each day, would help. We stayed two nights, and although the weather kept us from swimming, the pool area didn't look very clean.

The staff are friendly and the beds are comfortable, but it was hard to get any rest. You could hear snoring and phones vibrating in the next room, and traffic was loud inside too. The cleaner made a lot of noise while cleaning rooms at 1am. The sound isolation is the biggest problem. The Wi-Fi signal was poor, and I couldn't work from the hotel. It's hard to relax here, especially on a business trip, so I can't recommend it. Room 106.

At check-in, we paid 15€ in cash for the closed car park because there was no space outside, where only four cars were parked, plus the city tax. The room had been prepaid online. The woman at reception wrote the charges and amounts on a slip, and that was all. In the morning, when we returned the key, staff asked us to pay for the same things again because nothing was recorded on the computer. They couldn't reach the colleague who had checked us in, and we were held up for 20-30 minutes. It was very unpleasant, especially as we had planned to leave at that time. The total we paid was 20-30€). It made me wonder why there was a camera at reception. The mistrust and poor organization put a damper on the start of the day. If we'd missed our train while waiting to contact the woman from the evening before, would they have called the police? That was the worst part of our experience with the hotel staff. Our first impression had actually been quite pleasant: we got a room with a king size bed and a garden view. The room itself was clean and the bed comfortable, but the standard was disappointing. There was hair on the bathroom tiles, the bathtub was awkward to shower in, and the plumbing needs repair because the hose leaks with a strong stream of pressure. The balcony was untidy, and we didn't want to sit there. After a hard journey, we decided to overlook those things and enjoy the views. Breakfast was modest, but that didn't bother us.

The staff were friendly, but the room was hot and had no AC as stated. Opening the window wasn't possible with the street right below. Around 3am, a very noisy ventilator from some unknown room made sleep impossible, and we had a terrible night. We had voluntarily switched to a smaller room because we needed a short-term booking change. Even with all that, they didn't give us breakfast for free. Reception was very kind and suggested asking the director, but the director refused any refund. Clearly, short-term profit matters more here than satisfied customers.
