Haus Schönstatt feels like a real guest house, where you're welcomed as a person instead of treated like a customer. The Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary have been hosting visitors in Brig since 2004, and the money from stays goes directly toward their mission and apostolic work around the world. The house has a gentle, unhurried rhythm, and conversations with the sisters feel thoughtful and genuine. It's on a quiet hill above the Rhône Valley, with a view over Brig's rooftops and the mountains. The changing Alpine light is beautiful, especially around sunset. The rooms are modest but spotless, and the service is warm and attentive. There's a sense of purpose here too: this is a living spiritual community, with roots going back to 1914, when Father Joseph Kentenich founded the international Schoenstatt Movement in Germany. If you're after luxury, this isn't the place. But for a clean, kind, meaningful stay, Haus Schönstatt is special.

The included breakfast was excellent, with homemade jams and sweets along with bread, ham, cheese, eggs and plenty more. They even did our laundry for only 10 francs. The room was large and had two separate sleeping areas, one with two beds and the other with two bunk beds. Everything was super clean, and the views of town and mountains were amazing. It was about a 10 minute walk to the town center and station. Great hotel for the price, and we'll definitely stay here again when we're back in Switzerland.

Really lovely place, with a good atmosphere and clean surroundings. The staff were amazing, and there's a lovely chapel where you can find some peace 🫶🏼

My stay at the hotel was extremely bad. There was a strange chemical smell throughout the property, and the room was unclean, with mold and fungus in the bathroom. I found bugs in several places on the mattress. When I told reception, they insisted the bugs must have flown in from outside, even though there was snow and no insects outdoors during my stay. Breakfast wasn't fresh either. The bread was dry, and the food seemed several days old. Reception is only open at scheduled times, and no one speaks English, so it was hard to communicate. Booking.com kept replying until I raised the cleanliness problems, then the responses stopped. After I reported everything, I came back to find corrosive liquid all over the shower, still there and not rinsed off. I had to wash it off myself. The room stank, so I had to air it out; with the cold outside, I ended up sleeping in a chilled room. I was told that mold in the shower was normal usage. The hotel is run by nuns who don't speak English. I strongly advise against staying here.

The view was beautiful, and the simple, comfortable rooms were clean. Staff were very friendly and self check-in was easy. It's in a very quiet area, about an 18 minute walk from the station. There was a slightly odd plastic smell in the room, which was unpleasant but didn't bother me overnight. I stayed in summer, and the room was quite hot, so keep that in mind if you prefer to sleep cool.
