Boutique Hotel Orchidee

That personal welcome at Hotel Orchidee made a big difference. My parking space had my name on it, and there was a welcome note waiting. The owner even stayed past the usual 16:00 reception closing time until I arrived at 19:00, then greeted me with a glass of wine. Check-in was easy, and they took time to explain how things worked around the hotel. Breakfast was prepared especially for me instead of being the usual open buffet. There was also free water and coffee in the room. The owner and staff were very helpful and suggested some excellent local restaurants. I had a really memorable stay in Burgdorf, and would gladly recommend Hotel Orchidee for its warm, personal hospitality.

The breakfast was a real highlight, with plenty of quality choices included in the price, and the staff made sure I had a parking spot despite space for only 3-4 cars at the back. I stayed in September 2019 and had a pleasant time overall. It’s in a quiet little town, about a 30-minute drive from Bern, so it felt peaceful while still being accessible. The hotel and rooms were clean and modern, and the room was comfortable, though not especially spacious. My early check-in request was handled without trouble, and they replied within 12 hours. There’s a restaurant on-site too. The rate felt high, even allowing for Swiss hotel prices. At that price I expected air conditioning, though the mild weather meant its absence wasn’t a major issue. The bathroom’s sliding door looked distinctive and I liked it, but the lock didn’t work, so we couldn’t lock it while using the bathroom. A clean, comfortable place with good service and breakfast, though there were a few small shortcomings.

We arrived at the restaurant at 2 pm, which is late by Swiss standards, but they welcomed us warmly and had no problem serving us. Everything was local and freshly prepared, with lovely cooking and presentation. A must!

The rooms were comfortable and really clean, and breakfast was lovely, with homemade and local products. The manager is a gentleman, and the staff are friendly. We’ll definitely come back!
