Hotel Marco Polo

We really loved our little chalet, especially the sauna and jacuzzi, and breakfast was exceptional. The only thing I didn't like was how cold it got inside. We couldn't turn the heating up because it kept switching back to a lower temperature.

After inspecting Chalet Le Roi, we decided not to stay at MDLS and booked another Hotel in Martigny. We were on a ski-touring trip from Grimentz to Martigny last Thursday (12 March), and had planned to spend a night in Vercorin. At about 15:00, before leaving Grimentz, we called MDLS reception to ask for a room for 4 people, including breakfast. We arrived about 30 minutes later. The chalet was dusty on several surfaces. The host said this was normal in the mountains and refused to clean it. Another couple, who had travelled for 1 day from Schwyz and arrived at the same time, also refused to stay because their room/chalet was unclean. The wooden bathroom floor was significantly damaged and had been patched with Duct Tape (photo attached). Breakfast wasn't served before 9:00, too late for ski touring. The host said they couldn't make an exception, and breakfast couldn't be removed from the offering. The breakfast hours weren't visible online, and reception hadn't mentioned the late start on the call. The spa was an extra CHF 40 / person, which also hadn't been explained during the call. We offered CHF 50 to cover any possible expenses MDLS had, but the host rejected it. My advice to future guests: don't give your credit card details in advance before you've seen what you're getting!

There are 8 chalets at this lovely boutique hotel, and the owner is helpful and nice. I'd love to come back in summer.
