This visit was a lot better. We were five, and everyone was happy with the meal. The new owners served good quality food with good service, and their selection of local wines was good too. If you're nearby, this is the place to go.
We had lunch on the terrace, looking out over the parking lot. The service was pleasant and quick, and Olivia went for tofu with morels and black rice. I ordered an entrecôte blue, though it came medium rare. There's a decent range of meat, fish, poultry and vegetarian dishes, along with local wines. This is a modest hotel-restaurant in the sleepy village of Mathod, where we stopped on the way home from Yverdon via Orbe. They have some nice touches: a free amuse-bouche to start and an excellent homemade piece of chocolate with coffee.
The food was very good, but there were biting flies all over the restaurant. I know it may have just been the circumstances during our visit, and I hope they sort it out in future.
