The surrounding mountains look astonishing from here. It’s a charming place with a French-speaking atmosphere and reasonable prices.

I wouldn’t go back. Both our orders were wrong. I ordered rosti nature because it was vegetarian, and the waiter repeated “rosti nature” back to me. The dish was covered in cheese, so it wasn’t obvious at first, but after a few bites I noticed a distinct bacon taste. I checked through the rest of it and found more little pieces of bacon, then asked my husband to confirm. I haven’t eaten meat in 20 years, and having eaten it without knowing left me with a bacon taste, feeling uneasy all evening, and a bit poorly. I told the waiter I’d ordered the vegetarian nature, but my dish had bacon. He brought over a colleague who spoke English. She asked what he’d ordered, and he said “rosti maison,” which came with egg, cheese, and pork. I never said “maison,” and explained that I’d asked for nature and he’d repeated that back to me. She apologized and said the replacement would take 10 minutes, which was fine. When the waiter brought it out, he apologized too. My husband had ordered porc cordon blue with gratin dauphinoise but got fries instead. We didn’t bother bringing that up. The bill charged us the rosti maison price instead of rosti nature, but my husband paid so we could leave without more fuss. I gave service 2 stars because they corrected the meal, but overall it’s 1 star because I ate meat unknowingly and then paid for it.

The food was really good, and the place has a strong local feel, with people meeting friends and family for an afternoon glass of wine. Things move slowly there. Maybe they were understaffed, as the service was busy the whole time and it took a while to order and get our dishes. It may just be like that on Friday afternoons, though, since we haven’t visited on other days.

We only ate at the restaurant, so I can’t comment on the hotel. The service was friendly, and the meat was so tender and delicious. Cozy vibes, nice place ☺️
