Hôtel Préalpina

We had a great stay here. The hotel sits above Lake Geneva, so the views are wonderful, especially after dark. The man who greeted us was really nice and helped us sort out our travel plans for the following day. I’d happily recommend staying here.

The rooms and terrace have lovely views of the lake, but I’d avoid this place if you’re hoping to eat or have a drink, especially on a weekend. A wedding was taking place while we were there and we hadn’t been told ahead of time. The restaurant and bar were shut, and there was no alternative, discount, or complimentary drink. They only open midweek anyway. Breakfast was very basic.

The lake view from our room made the price feel worthwhile, and I liked being able to cancel housekeeping through the app. The hotel accepts animals too. A small fridge and a kettle would have been useful additions. Breakfast worked well for me since there were gluten-free and lactose-free items, plus a whole tray of fruit. Some sliced vegetables for the sandwiches would’ve been nice. :) The hotel gave us a transport card, so we could take a break from driving.

The rooms are small, though they make efficient use of the space. For the price, it’s a good option if all you want is a place to sleep and a balcony view. The terrace is really nice, but when the restaurant is closed, which happens several days during the week, getting a drink means buying one at reception and having it in your room or out on the terrace. I can’t say anything about the restaurant food since I didn’t see it.
