Waldhotel by Bürgenstock

I spent a lot of time unwinding in the sauna, which was kept in perfect condition and felt just right. The spa was a real highlight. Meals were beautifully prepared, and the restaurant team was kind and attentive without hovering. Even the facilities felt spotless, with modern design that suited the quiet mountain setting. From arrival, the stay was relaxing and carefully considered. Waldhotel Bürgenstock gave me comfort, quality, and a rare sense of calm. I’d happily come back.

The view was fantastic, and the location was amazing. The staff were so kind and friendly. It’ll be my favorite place for a relaxing vacation.

The little surprises arranged for our anniversary made us feel genuinely celebrated, and gave the stay an extra personal touch. We loved the food, and every staff member we met was warm, attentive, and professional. The restaurants and facilities were excellent, with service that matched. We came to Waldhotel for our wedding anniversary, and the scenery, architecture, peaceful atmosphere, and overall feel made it special from the start. Everything was thoughtfully put together. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay, and we’re already looking forward to returning.

The plaque of famous guests left me deeply disturbed. Many people listed are cultural or humanitarian figures without the same concerns, but seeing David Ben-Gurion displayed alongside Audrey Hepburn and Kofi Annan felt shockingly insensitive. He was the architect of the 1948 Nakba, involving the mass expulsion of around 750,000 Palestinians and the destruction of more than 400 villages, often with massacres. He later founded Israel’s repressive security services, including Shin Bet. Henry Kissinger and a few other names also carry legacies stained by support for coups, secret bombings, and mass killings across Asia and Latin America. The rest of the list isn’t without blemish either. Apart from that, the hotel itself is beautiful, with amazing service, a good breakfast, a nice spa, and astonishing views.
