Hillsite Hotel

The room was clean and the balcony views were great. The hotel has a really no-frills feel, and it’s apparently due to be demolished. Breakfast at the attached restaurant is simple, and the walk to the lifts takes about two minutes at most. We enjoyed our stay.

The location is great, but I wouldn’t stay here with my family because there could be a lot of unpleasant surprises. There was a bad smell in the ski room, and the staff handled things very unprofessionally. We were given a fourth-floor room for our ski holiday. At check-in they said the elevator was broken and would be fixed within an hour, but it still wasn’t working when we checked out five days later, so we had to carry our luggage upstairs. On the second day I had a ski accident and could barely walk properly. We asked for a lower-floor room, but they didn’t provide one, so I had to climb to the fourth floor every day with an injured foot. At checkout, my wife had to carry the luggage, and they didn’t offer help even as a courtesy.

Getting to the lifts is easy, but I’d rather stay farther away than come back here. There’s no one at reception. Entry by code is fine until you have a problem and nobody is there to help; email replies can take nearly a full day. Arriving between 14:00 and 18:00 also means you can’t access the parking garage, because you have to register your car at the restaurant, which doesn’t open until 18:00. The breakfast felt like a scam, 20 CHF for a sausage, cold cuts, and coffee. The sauna advertised on the website doesn’t exist, and neither does room service. We had no hot water for showers, and the shower head was so clogged with minerals that water sprayed everywhere. Take your money elsewhere.

The night was snowy and -10°C, but there was no heat, no hot water, and no staff available to fix either. I was left freezing in my room while guests next door had hot showers, and woke up sick. Being without basic things like heat and hot water is completely unacceptable. I demanded a refund, but when I needed them, they disappeared. Avoid this place unless you’re okay with being treated like you don’t matter.
