The place was clean and had plenty of cutlery, but no basics like salt, pepper, or oil. Beyond that, what was there to like? We only booked because it was peak season and had to make a last-minute reservation. Swiss accommodation is already incredibly expensive, and this one wasn't worth the price. If you can, I'd recommend staying elsewhere. Getting there was exhausting. The map suggested a 15-20 minute walk from Grindelwald Station, but the accommodation is halfway up a steep mountain slope, making the walk virtually impossible for most people. The bus from Grindelwald only comes every 30 minutes, and the last one leaves at 6:30 PM. Getting from the bus to the accommodation also meant tackling an unannounced run of stairs. The building felt like a semi-basement, with more stairs inside, and I nearly died carrying my suitcase down. The view was meant to be of the Eiger or Glacier, but didn't really meet tourist expectations. After a certain amount of use, the hot water stopped, so we had to wash the dishes before using them. Despite the hefty price, we had to take out our own trash and separate the waste. There was also a musty, moldy, slightly rotten wood smell when we entered. As is typical of Swiss accommodations, there were no screens, and mosquitoes, moths, and flies kept getting in, so I had to keep the door shut. The office staff were rude, and we hadn't been told beforehand about the 500-franc deposit required to get the key. We explained we were overseas and couldn't freely transfer money, but they just kept repeating that they couldn't give us the key without the deposit, like parrots.

The host was very welcoming, and the apartment was lovely and in a great location.
